Happy Halloween, everyone! Christmas is coming up soon, and Santa Claus will be coming to town again. For me, Christmas came early this year: American pizzas are making their way to Australia! In fact, they’ve been here already ever since Costco opened their business here in Sydney. And just last week, Little Caesars Pizza followed suit by opening their first branch Down Under in Casula.
Little Caesars Pizza is a pizza chain, and the third largest in the US, after Pizza Hut and Domino’s Pizza. Founded in 1959 in Garden City, Michigan, Little Caesars’ claim to fame is its “hot-n-ready” service, which offers 14-inch pizzas in just 30 seconds. Unbelievable, right?
My personal favorite is the Deep! Deep! Dish Pizza which pays homage to its Detroit origin. Where else can you find a pizza with a crisp-on-the-bottom, soft-and-chewy-on-the-inside crust, then topped from coast-to-coast with 100% Mozzarella and Muenster cheese, baked to a crispy, crunchy, caramelized cheese edge? To top it off, four corners are not enough sometimes, huh? How about eight?
Another popular offering is the crazy bread (same as Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks in the US) — fresh dough cut into bread sticks and run through the oven with garlic, butter and Parmesan cheese. During my visit they were giving out free samples of this freshly-made crazy bread which was insanely delicious (no pun intended), just like in the US. I didn’t try the (marinara) sauce, though but it normally comes with the crazy bread.
