I love Newtown. Every time I come to this suburb of Sydney, there are always some restaurants catching my eye. This time, located just behind the you-can’t-miss-it pink building (photos below) is this classic-looking Barmuda Café. Conveniently it is just a stone-throw away from the infamous Black Star Pastry (review coming soon!).
Potato Stack ($16). Crispy potato cake with scrambled eggs, grilled eggplant, rocket & tomato relish. Oh, and it’s gluten-free, too. A must-try.
Breakie Wrap ($10). Scrambled eggs with jalapenos, spinach, roast tomato, aioli, and tomato relish. Can add bacon or sausage (pictured) for $2. I love it how they make colorful breakfast menu here. It was so worth it.
Corn & Chive Fritters ($14.50) with tomato relish, salsa verde, roast tomato, a dollop of sour cream and dressed rocket. Add $3 for bacon or salmon & avocado. It’s gluten-free. The fritters were a bit too dry to my taste, better pick the other breakfast items.
Mocha ($4.90). I didn’t try this, but my sister says it’s definitely one of the best ones out there.
Right across from the train station, you will see this pink building (Newtown Medical Practice). On the left-hand side is an alley. Walk in and Barmuda Café is waiting on the left side. I really like it that they always add an aesthetic touch to your breakfast by making “colorful” food. Seeing colors like red (tomatoes), yellow (eggs), and green (kale, arugula/rocket) on your breakfast seems to be quite common here in Sydney.
