A while ago I discovered this breakfast place in Waterloo, and subsequently this post was prepared a long, long time ago, but for some reason I’d never uploaded it. Nevertheless, they were memorable and I would like to share my experience with you. Their menu options may have changed now but judging from my visit, they should still be one of the breaky places to visit.
Braised pulled pork panini w/ coriander and mango chutney, Swiss cheese, and cabbage slaw ($12). Look at the size of this thing, they do serve real breakfast, dude! Not too salty, which is always a plus. Overall I feel I made the right choice.
Avocado salsa, goats cheese, sourdough w/ fresh lime, coriander, and chilli jam ($16). One word: creative. Spraying chilli jam to food seems to be an Aussie thing. Brilliant! Add avocado salsa, chunks of goat cheese, and alfalfa sprouts on top of a piece of sourdough, and voila! you’ll get this simple dish with surprising complexity. If you’re feeling adventurous, this is a dish to try today!
Lemon pepper chicken brioche w/ Swiss cheese, lime and chilli aioli, greens ($12). Definitely the least good-looking of the three. The top bun was slightly charred, which didn’t help at all with its appearance. There are better items to pick.
The place itself is very small. The good thing is doesn’t matter where you sit, you’ll be close to freshly-baked goodness as seen in the picture. How can you resist those freshly-baked donuts and muffins?
Despite resembling more of an industrial building or a warehouse, hiding inside is a comfy breakfast spot in town.
