With chicken & seafood, this paella almost gained a place in our hearts if not for too soft, watery rice. Other than that, it was all we asked for in a Spanish paella.

Two points: the black color comes from squid ink. Cool, right? Although it says 2 pax, it serves more based on Indonesian serving size. More like 3-4 pax.

A textbook case of “Never judge a book by its cover”. Super tasty and cooked very well.

Just like the paella above but with macaroni pasta.

Chicken brochetta with mourish spices and honey. Never before a dish being judged so much the moment it was brought to the table: it was a f*ck*ng chicken satay with a bl**dy fancy name, dude! However, upon tasting one chunk of the chicken, cat got our tongues as it was unbelievably soft and tender. A masterpiece.

This is how a mini burger should be.

Good, but I’ve had a much better version of this dish. Read below.

Galician octopus. So soft and tender, you won’t believe how an octopus could taste like this.

Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce. Although still fairly good, it’s not comparable to the rests of the tapas.

Hands down the best churros ever made in Jakarta!! Congrats to Tapas Movida!

They opened their 2nd branch in Cilandak Town Square (CiToS).
The search for churros is over. They’ve got the best ones here. As for Patatas Bravas, I suggest visiting Nick’s Caños Cocina Tapas at Foundry 8 in SCBD where it’s light years ahead.
Here, in Tapas Movida, Manuel, the main chef is one-of-a-kind. This guy can really cook. Like a wizard in the kitchen, I imagine. However, he is a bit of a stiff and seems to be under a lot of pressure lately. During my visit he hurled a condescending remark about the English-speaking ability of one of my dining companions who asked him politely about the food. Trust me there’s nothing wrong with my companion’s English. The dishes were exceptional but this insulting remark left a giant hole in our hearts. We were disappointed by such unprofessional behavior from a chef. I much prefer chefs who can cook as well as showing presentable personalities. One chef comes to mind: Chef Oskar from Plan B Spanish Resto who is very friendly and laid back, backed by a superb cooking expertise as you can tell from his food.
