Caños Cocina Tapas, Foundry 8, SCBD, Jakarta Published on October 16, 2014October 27, 2014 by Elvin Electreats Three ways Tapas Platter – IDR 150K Now happens to be Soft Shell Crabs Week, and thus they are offering succulent specials: Soft Shell Crabs done three ways: with potato-parsley sauce, with veggie and ginger-honey dresssing, and with garlic bread and salsa verde. Each separately is priced at IDR 75K. More generous amount of all-three sauces are preferred to balance out the saltiness of the crabs. Complimentary Bread & Potato Chips with Salsa Caños Spanish Burger – IDR 110K High-grade homemade beef burger, Machengo cheese, Iberico bites, caramelized onion, grilled peach in a wholemeal bun. For a beef burger, this tasted a lot like pork. The fries are to die for: they just feel right. Right seasoning, right texture, right crispiness. Patatas Bravas – IDR 40K Pan-fried potatoes served with traditional spicy sauce. The potatoes are extremely tender. Based on my experience, they seem to do very well with potato dishes. The sauce compliments the potatoes nicely and I personally love the heat. Crispy Shrimp Bites – IDR 40K Mediterranean-style fried shrimp bites with chili and lime. Eat whole, no need to peel the shell off. With such strong taste, this is no doubt a great companion to beers. Grilled King Prawn – IDR 75K King prawns grilled with Spanish herb mix and served with spicy chili sauce. The chili sauce reminds me of a Balinese sambal. Although it’s a Spanish dish, the taste is very close to the BBQ prawns found at traditional Indonesian BBQ joints. Indonesians should be very familiar with this kind of prawn, especially with the “spicy chili sauce” which is basically sambal. Churros with Chocolate Sauce – IDR 40K Nicknamed the “Spanish donuts”, Churros are a staple of Spanish desserts. These are more Spanish (good!), unlike those you get from mainstream Churros places in Jakarta. Unfortunately, these are not quite the best. Thanks to another Spanish restaurant, the bar for good Churros has been set so high. I will post some photos of the said place soon. Shake, shake, shake! Smokey Ginger – IDR 100K One of their Signature Cocktails and my personal favorite. It’s a mix of Whiskey, Single Malt, honey, ginger, and lime. I had so much fun taking photos of this thanks to all present staffs who ran around grabbing all kinds of props to use. The staffs worked together very well, not only with each other but also with us. A must-try. Red Sangria – IDR 120K Red Wine, Brandy, lychee liquor, sprite, assorted fruits. Refreshing but lacking the taste of alcohol. Oriental Lychee Martini – IDR 85K Vodka, lychee liquor, lemon, egg white. Sweet and smooth. All the girls at our table liked this the most. Cosmo Pop Rock – IDR 100K Vodka, Triple Sec, lime, cranberry, blueberry. Better than regular Cosmo which is usually ridiculously sweet. This deserves the “Pop Rock” suffix. Night crowds in da house! And that, my friend, is the beginning of something far greater. Caños – Tapas Cocina in Foundry 8, SCBD *This was a food-tasting invitation.
